20 minutes into the 7:00 p.m. movie Trainwreck, a 58 year old drifter stood up and shot 11 people in a very popular Lafayette, Louisiana theater. On the evening of July 23rd the theater was full of about 100 young adults. After the massacre, the shooter escaped through a side door. When he encountered police officers, he returned to the theater then shot and killed himself. Two women were killed and 9 were wounded.
Authorities say the handgun that was used was purchased legally.
