On Saturday, January 31st, the daughter of superstars “Bobby Brown” and the late great “Whitney Houston,” was placed in a medically-induced coma after being found face down in a bathtub filled with water. Bobbi Kristina was discovered by her partner “Nick Gordon,” and his friend, “Max Lomas.”
The young actress’s father Bobby Brown has asked for the world to pray for his daughter, but requests that the public give him and his family their privacy as they deal with this tragedy.
In February of 2012, Bobbi Kristina’s mother, the talented and beloved R&B singer Whitney Houston, was found at the Beverly Hills Hotel unconscious and unresponsive in a bathtub filled with water. The multiple Grammy Award winning artist was at the hotel preparing to attend a pre-Grammy party, hosted by manager, producer, mentor and longtime friend “Clive Davis.” 48 year old Whitney Houston was later pronounced dead.
The cause of the singer’s death was listed as an accidental drowning. However, prolonged use of cocaine as well as heart disease were listed as contributing factors.
The similarities of Bobbi Kristina being found face down unconscious in a bathtub filled with water, and her mother Whitney Houston also being found unresponsive in a bathtub filled with water, are uncanny.
Was Bobbi Kristina depressed? Was this a suicide attempt? Reports state that just days before the incident, she had been tweeting about her upcoming birthday party and how excited she was to be turning 22 years old. But her dad told media that she missed her mother tremendously, and still struggled with her mom’s death.
So the speculation begins, was Bobbi Kristina high on drugs when she was discovered? Initially reports stated that there were no drugs found at the scene. Since then, there have been reports that unspecified drugs were indeed uncovered.
Sadly, we may never know the full details of exactly what was on Bobbi Kristina’s mind in recent days. It will be weeks before the coroner’s toxicology reports are made public. And even then, they may not tell the whole story.
There have been reports that yesterday, Bobbi Kristina was taken off of life support. But the family has not confirmed that.
She is showing little signs of improvement, but her prognosis for a full recovery is slight at best. Her father and the family are hoping for a miracle.
This story is really heartbreaking. Bobby and Whitney’s marriage was riddled with problems. Both cheating on each other. Both struggling with alcohol and drug addiction. It seems to me that Bobbi Kristina never had a fighting chance.
She was born under the microscope that magnified each and every move of her two famous parents. Their successes, their failures, you name it, from the time they got together, the pair could not hide from the paparazzi even if they wanted to. Everything they did was put on display for the world to judge.
Bobby Brown was born into poverty. He knew that he had talent and believed that he would one day be famous. As a teenager, Bobby Brown founded the boyband, R&B sensation “New Edition.” The group went onto enjoy much success.
Bobby later left the group to start his solo career, which stratosphered the singer into superstardom.
Bobby Brown loved the fast life. His fame and fortune afforded him many luxuries. He had no shortage of liquor, drugs, women, and baby mamas. All of which contributed to the problems surrounding his career and his failed marriage.
Whitney Houston on the other hand was born into a very different lifestyle. Both of Whitney’s parents were very accomplished in the music industry.
Her mother “Cissy Houston” was a backup singer for musical acts like Elvis Presley, Aretha Franklin and James Brown. Whitney’s father, “John Russell Houston, Jr.,” was an entertainment executive.
At an early age, Whitney decided that she wanted to follow in her mother’s footsteps and become a singer. Her talent was undeniable and her voice in my opinion should go down in history as one of the wonders of the world. As a teenager Whitney began traveling and performing with her mother in various nightclubs.
Whitney was introduced to the world by the legendary “Clive Davis.” Mr. Davis was responsible for the musical careers of legends “Aretha Franklin” and “Dione Warwick.” Clive said that he knew Whitney was a natural born star from the moment he laid eyes on her. Whitney Houston became one of the world’s greatest entertainers.
She was America’s darling when she met media labeled bad boy Bobby Brown. Most of Whitney’s fans didn’t approve of the two as a couple. They thought that Bobby Brown would corrupt the angelic, sweet and beautiful Whitney Houston. Many of Whitney’s friends said that her public persona did not completely define Ms. Houston. Those that were closest to her said that she was no angel. According to published reports, Whitney had a history of drug abuse long before she met Bobby Brown.
When the couple met, fireworks exploded and they quickly became inseparable. Unfortunately, history proved that the two had much love for each other but were not good for one another. The couple divorced in 2006. Bobby Brown has since remarried and is now sober. He has stated on several occasions that he did not want to divorce from Whitney. In recent interviews, Bobby has repeatedly said that he will always love Ms. Houston.
Bobby Brown insists that Bobbi Kristina never saw he and Whitney doing drugs. But I find it hard to believe that Bobbi Kristina was not exposed to at least some of their dysfunction. With that being said, I can’t imagine that this did not negatively affect her physically and emotionally. Did their demons ultimately lead to her demise? I guess we’ll never know for sure.
