Kourtney & Khloe Take The Hamptons

11/3/2014

When I get a moment to relax, I enjoy watching reality shows. The Kardashians are among some of my favorite reality show stars.  As I have said before, “Don’t Judge Me.”  LOL.

I must say that I like all of the Kardashian girls including Momager “Chris Jenner,” but I have to admit, that Khloe Kardashian is my favorite.  She of the three sisters seems to be the most genuine, not to mention she has the best sense of humor. I think she is hilarious.

With that being said, it’s no surprise that I did not miss tonight’s premiere of “Kourtney & Khloe Take The Hamptons.”  As expected, they did not disappoint. The show was full of glamour, including beautifully beat faces, gorgeous hair extensions, plenty of hot fashion, and of course lots of booty.

The one thing that might be getting a bit old, is the relationship between Kourtney and her baby daddy Scott Disick.  That’s just more of the same.

Same old argument about Scott's excessive club hopping and drunkenness while leaving Kourtney at home alone, barefoot and pregnant caring for their two children.

I understand that Scott recently lost both of his parents. I get that he’s grieving, but at some point he needs to grow up and learn how to deal with life and the challenges that it at times brings.  I hope that Mr. Disick gets his act together soon for the sake of his lovely children.

Speaking of the children, little Mason and his sister Penelope are just the cutest.  Penelope has Kourtney’s personality.  Already, she has a quiet seriousness about her.  The faces she that makes when looking at people talk to her are priceless.  She just stares at them, as if she is thinking “What an Idiot!”  Too adorable.

There is something new this season.  We were introduced to Khloe’s new boyfriend, rapper “French Montana.”  French took Khloe with him to South Africa to attend the MTV Awards.  I like them together.  It’s nice to see Khloe moving on after her split with Lamar.  For sure, my DVR is set to record all of Kourtney & Khloe Take The Hamptons episodes. It should be fun.

Are Reality Shows Really Reality?

2/1/2014

Ok, yes, my guilty pleasure, reality shows.

I'm not sure what it is? Maybe it's the catty onliners. Maybe it's the hot clothes, mansions, luxury cars, and glorious trips that they get to take.

All reality show buffs know that before the season ends, as a part of the "storyline," the cast will embark on some enviable vacation. And, no matter how gorgeous the scenery, it's a sure bet, that everyone will end up ripping each other to shreds.  No good reality show would be complete without it's share of drama. But the question is: Is the drama real?

I watched the very first Real Housewives Of Orange County show, that Bravo big wig Andy Cohen debuted in 2006. The one that started the Real Housewives franchise. A non scripted show, in which cameras followed several rich women around, to capture what they did in their everyday lives.

As Real Housewives of Orange County became a huge success, Real Housewives Of New York was birthed. Real Housewives of Atlanta, Beverly Hills, Miami and D.C. came soon after.

As I watched my DVR of never ending reality show insanity, it became a fun way for me to wind down after a long week.

In The Real Housewives of Orange County, the women were career women. That's right, although they were indeed wives, they were not "housewives." This was a great dynamic to watch, because it was interesting to see how the girls balanced the challenges of raising a family and maintaining successful careers.

As the show grew in popularity, the show began to center around the fact that the women didn't always get along. The ladies were frequently hostile towards one another. And, as you can imagine, the ratings went through the roof.

All of the Real Housewives shows are full of scandals. Arguments, accusations of adultery, fights, drink throwing, yelling, cursing, trash talking, you name it.  Even Patti Stanger of Bravo's "The Millionaire Matchmaker,' manages to scream at the top of her lungs halfway through a show about dating. Some of the reality shows are so out of pocket, that they are somewhat unbelievable.

Bravo, the master, has several other reality shows that focus on chaos. Blood, Sweat and Heals is about several successful black women living in New York City, climbing the corporate latter in Fashion, Media and Real Estate. The stuff hit the fan in this series from the beginning when one of the girls wrote something offensive about the other ladies in her blog.

Bravo's 100 Days Of Summer about a group of guys and their girlfriends living in Chicago. And you guessed it, not all of the girlfriends get along. The rich friends of E's Rich Kids Of Beverly Hills (who by the way are all adults) even manage to snap each other up. Why? They travel internationally, have parties, hangout by the pool and spend their parents money. What do they have to dispute about?

Please don't get me started on Vh1's Mob Wives. This reality show is off the chain! The title speaks for itself. Their husbands either have been, still are, or are about to be incarcerated. And the women are so tough that they even scare me. They are always talking about busting each other in the mouth.

One thing is true, at the end of the day, I don't take these supposedly "reality shows" too seriously. For me, it's just adult entertainment.

OWN Reality Show Raising Whitley

One of the most talented actresses and comediennes on the planet, Kym Whitley, has a reality show on the Oprah Winfrey Network. We know Kym for the colorful, loud and brash characters she plays in such movies as Next Friday and Deliver Us from Eva.  Who can forget her performance as the wife of Martin Lawrence and mother of Raven Simone in College Road Trip. If you have had the pleasure of seeing Kym do stand-up, you know that she is undoubtedly one of the funniest people ever.

Now that Kym has delved into the world of reality television, we get to peek inside her personal life. What emerges is a sweeter softer side of the public persona of Kym Whitley. But nonetheless entertaining.

In the first episodes, we meet Kym’s newly adopted son Joshua. And her closest friends, whom she refers to as her village. Her docudrama centers around her daily life of raising her adorable son who is almost 2 years old. Kym is a loving single mom, but she has a busy schedule. So she relies on the help of the village to assist her with her motherly duties.

We watch as Kym invites her friend for over 10 years, fellow actress and comedienne Caroline Rhea to her house for a visit. Kym being the funny gal that she is, tells her assistant that whenever her white friends come to visit, they comment on her much African artwork she has. Kym says that she does not want her friend to feel uncomfortable, so maybe she should put up at least one piece of artwork by a white artist. Her assistant suggest putting up a picture of Abraham Lincoln.

When Caroline arrives, Kym puts her up in Joshua’s lovely room, and tells her that she has night duty.  The two of them decide that even though Joshua has a father in his life, Kym’s handsome friend, Rodney, Joshua still needs a nanny. The two of them begin with the interview process, and it gets a little crazy when one lady says that white people are the devil. One girl can barely speak English, and one man takes off his shirt. We also watch Kym take Joshua for his first haircut and buy his first potty.

The show not only revolves around Kym being a mother, we also get to see her go out on a manhunt with two of her closest girlfriends.

Kym decides that she wants to test the waters of interracial dating. She and the girls believe that the best place to meet white men is at a dog park. So, they put Kym’s dog in the car and their journey begins. They flirt a little and even meet a guy who Kym thinks is cute but her friends think is strange. Ultimately the ladies have no luck at finding romance at the dog park. But the day is not over. The next stop on their mission to find love is the grocery store. It’s in the supermarket that Kym hits the jackpot. She meets a tall handsome man. After their date, Kym brings her date back to the house where they meet up with Joshua’s father Rodney. And the fireworks begin.

This show is definitely on my must watch list. Read more at www.oprah.com

New Reality Show The Golden Sisters

Sneak Peak Of The First Episode

Watching the Kim Kardashian and Ray J Sex Tape

One of my favorite new reality shows debuted on the Oprah Winfrey Network. The Golden Sisters. Mary, Josie and Teresa are the real Golden Girls. Italian and born in the Bronx, together they are hilarious. Oldest sister Mary is in her 80s, and her two younger siblings Josie and Teresa are twins.

I learned about these girls after a friend told me to watch a video of the three of them watching Ray J and Kim Kardashian’s sex tape. Their video was too funny. Josie said that she had seen a video of Kim Kardashian’s sex tape on the internet, so she showed it to oldest sister Mary and twin sister Teresa. The three of them were gasping and cracking up as Mary called Kim stupid and said that Ray J’s thing looked like a snake. When Ms. Oprah Winfrey got wind of these three ladies, she gave them a reality show.

I watched the first two episodes this weekend, and those gals did not disappoint. They were even more entertaining than I expected. Though these sisters all are senior citizens, they have as much energy as people half their age.

The three own a beauty salon but feel that they need to get more clients. So they decide to shoot a commercial. Twin Teresa calls on her grandsons to write the jingle for the commercial, perform the jingle in the commercial and be the cameramen for the commercial. It turns out fantastic.

I laughed so hard as I watched the three of them cuss, gamble, go to see Engelbert Humperdinck perform, and answer tweets from their twitter followers. I cannot wait to see more of them.

My Reality Show Mashup

5/7/2013

What can I say, I like Reality Shows. Everybody knows that my favorites are The Real Housewives, Married To Medicine and Love And Hip Hop Atlanta. These ladies are crazy and are really fun to watch. Their Narcissistic Personalities and ridiculous high drama story lines make me laugh out loud. It's an easy breezy way to wind down after a busy day.

This week was no different than any other week. It was full of over the top drama. The fight between Alexis Bellino and the other girls of the Real Housewives Of Orange County continued. All of the girls are mad at Alexis for being too pretentious. But Tamra Barney with her little self took the lead this week and threw much shade at Alexis. Tamra is opening a gym with her boyfriend Eddie. She decided to throw a party at the gym to celebrate, inviting only a few friends. Of course Alexis was not on the guest list. Vickie Gunvalson however, managed to persuade Tamra to allow Alexis to come to the party with Vickie. So Dum Dum Alexis agrees to go to the party and before you know it she was in a big fight with all of the other girls. Tamra chases Alexis out who leaves in tears. Why is Alexis crying? She is bigger than Tamra. The next time Tamra gets out of line, maybe Alexis should just step on her. Relax, I'm just kidding.

On Married To Medicine Mariah and Toya carried on with their feud. Recap: Mariah and Toya had a stomp down, weave pulling fight at Mariah's husbands' birthday party in Kari's house. Kari was livid. She felt like Mariah and Toya's behavior was like circus animals. Mariah who said that she paid for the entire function is angry with Kari because she believes that Kari went to far when she asked the police to escort Mariah out of her house. Their friendship is presently null and void. However, Toya met with Kari and begged her forgiveness for fighting in her home. Quad who is Mariah's best friend is not feeling Toya or Kari. She has had prior confrontations with both ladies. Let's just say Quad definitely has Mariah's back. Peacemaker Dr. Jackie invited all the girls to get together in an attempt to persuade the girls to make up and play nice. Unfortunately that didn't happen. At this moment none of the girls are feeling each other.

This week, Love and Hip Hop Atlanta was off the chain as usual. Scrappy's fiance Erica and Scrappy's Momma Dee are still at each others throats. But this time it would have gotten physical if Scrappy had not have gotten in the middle. It's no secret that Scrappy is a mama's boy. Crazy Momma Dee calls herself the Queen and Scrappy the Prince. She refuses to let her son go. At least not to Erica anyway. Momma Dee went so far as to bring one of Scrappy's old girlfriends in to break up Erica and Scrappy.  OH NO! Momma Dee. That's scandalous!  Erica's mother also has some reservations about Scrappy. So Erica and Scrappy decided to get the two mothers together for dinner, to iron out their differences. It was a disaster. Erica ended up telling Momma Dee to be quiet. Why did she do that? From that point it was a mess. Erica lunged at Momma Dee. She then  pushed Scappy.  Scrappy pushed Erica back. And at the end, Momma Dee and Scrappy were standing on the curb asking for his ring back.  All I can say is A MESS!

Also on Love and Hip Hop Atlanta, I am confused as to why K Michelle and Rasheeda, who used to be tight, are no longer feeling each other. At a house warming party for mutual friend and fellow drama queen Mimi, K Michelle threw and hit Rasheeda with a candle. It's a good thing it wasn't lit. I am sure it will be revealed soon why these two ladies are now enemies. I 'll stay tuned. LOL.

Mariah Bust Toya In The Head Last Night On Married To Medicine

4/16/2013

Picture
Andy Cohen of Bravo did it again.  He has another hit on his hands. "Married To Medicine." This time a show about two Female Doctors and four Doctor's Wives. They are all rich. They are all friends. They are all pretty.  And all but one are African American. They reside in that famed Southern Hollywood State, Atlanta Georgia.

The elder of the group but still beautiful is OBGYN  Dr. Jackie.  Next is who I call the little cute spitfire OBGYN Dr. Simone.   Mariah The Fabulous is married to Emergency Room Physician Dr. Ayden Huq.  Cutesy Toya  is married to Emergency Room Physician Dr. Eugene Harris. Tall and model like Ms. Kari from England is  married to Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Duncan Wells. And last but not least the Black Barbie Doll Ms. Quad  is married to Psychiatrist Dr. Gregory Lunceford.

The show is centered around these women who are all educated and successful in their own right, and their glamorous life. There is lots of laughs, a whole lot of how you doings, and of course lots of drama. The show does have some serious moments. Dr. Jackie is a breast cancer survivor twice.  The show does bring some elements of the close friendship that she shares with Dr. Simone and how she has supported Dr. Jackie  during her illness.

Dr. Jackie is the soft spoken wise one who sort of pulls the girls back in when they get too far out of line.  Along with Dr. Simone who is right with her. Too bad Dr. Jackie is a workaholic as Dr. Simone calls her and could not be at Dr. Ayden and Dr. Duncan's joint birthday party last night.  Maybe she could have stopped Mariah from busting Toya upside the head. Although Toya kind of had it coming to her.  Maybe just not last night at that black tie party that they her and Kari Spent so much money on.

The night started out all wrong to begin with. The whole day really was full of problems. The party was at Kari's house and Mariah did not show up to help get everything together. The wrong cake was delivered. To top it off Mariah, Dr. Ayden, Quad and Dr. Gregory were 2 hours late to the party.  Not cute Mariah. You are too grand for that.

Hold on. That's just the beginning. Mariah's mother angry that Toya spread some of Mariah's personal business, that was told to her in confidence, confronted Toya there at the gathering.  Not  really the time nor the place Ms. Lucy.  But anyway, Toya should hove got a clue and left.  Ms.  Lucy said she heard some nasty stuff that Toya said.  But no, Toya goes and pulls Mariah to the side and begins to talk about Ms. Lucy to Mariah.  Mariah  livid about what she heard, flipped Toya's hair.  The two begin slapping each others hands and Toya threw a drink in Mariah's face.  That was it.  Those girls started scrapping.

I mean it was a mess. They would not let go of each others weaves.  I  was like omg I know that hair cost a lot of money.  But really Toya kind of had that coming. What she said was too much I thought.  Ayden has adopted and raised Mariah's baby girl as his own.  Baby girl does not know that Dr. Ayden is not her dad.  Mariah told Toya that info in confidence. Toya if she was Mariah's  friend should  not have told anyone that personal info that was told to her in private.  Especially gossiping about it in all places, the beauty salon. Toya was way out of line.

Well Mariah took to her blog and wrote about how embarrassed and ashamed of herself she was.  I understand Mariah.  Some people just want to take you back to the hood. Sometimes you just have to go there.  It isn’t pretty.  However, sometimes it's necessary. Certain people can make you just snap.

Keep your head up girl.
